The Truth be Told.....

We convince ourselves that the truth is the barometer of our value system, in the movie "A Few Good Men", Tom Cruise's character is hammering Jack Nicholson's character in the courtroom. Cruise's character is demanding the truth from the Nicholson character, it even seems that he is baiting and badgering the arrogant persona of the Nicholson character, until the Nicholson character finally smugly answers him "YOU CAN"T HANDLE THE TRUTH". That is an interesting statement since the truth can be relative depending whose truth is the truth. We want answers to questions that we really don't want answers to because the truth can and will overturn our moral, valued system of Godly standards.You can lie to yourself for so long that lie becomes truth to YOU! It's our abilty to justify our position in the affairs of our lives that can catapault our thinking into a twisted, self-righteous depiction of what is true. Slavery was true!!! in America 200 years ago!!! It's true today also but it's dressed up differently. Now that is true to some of us but to others slavery has been abolished a long time ago! NO! it hasn't! just smells different, just like rascism.Just because it doesn't look the same doesn't make it not true. America having a bi-racial president doesn't make all the past lies this country has perpetrated on people of color here and abroad any less true. Can it be the racial insecurties of an unwanted section of Europeans that felt the need to "spin doctor" themselves into a pious group of pathological lying psychopaths that the only truth that existed was their truth. I was under the impression that was what they were running from the thing that they decided to do any way but in another country. The truth be told..... depends on whose telling it or is it really true that "WE CAN"T HANDLE THE TRUTH"!!!!!
